To build the business you need to have the life you want may mean that you’ll have to lead a team, which doesn’t come naturally to everyone. So what three leadership skills will help you get your team on-board with your compelling vision of the future? These will connect what they do and motivate them to want to achieve it.

1. The ability to ensure each team member feels part of what you do
You will need to be able to adopt the right approach resulting in the right conditions for all members of your team to give their best each day, meaning they will be committed to the goals and values of the success of the business and it’s where they will get a sense of personal achievement in what they do.

2. Being a good communicator
Regular communication helps to build relationships across the business and also helps to build trust. As a leader, you should communicate regularly with your team members in ways that work for them and keep channels of communication open both ways. The stronger the relationships you can build the better you will be able to lead your people.

3. Integrity
In order to be a successful business leader you need to be honest, transparent and have a high degree of integrity. The key is to do what you say you are going to do. Some people might be happy to sit back and watch from the sidelines, but great leaders like to get involved in making things happen. In order to become a successful leader you need to persevere, drive your team forward and be accountable. If the buck stops with you, then own it.
