Apprentice Accounting Technician

A great opportunity to start your career in accountancy with a forward thinking Chartered Accountancy company based in Torquay. As a Trainee Accounting Technician you will support managers and other senior staff in providing a range of accountancy services to our clients, while gaining the experience and knowledge to achieve your AAT qualification.

The start date for this role will be early to mid September.

What you will be doing at Andrew Price & Co

As a trainee accountant your initial role will involve:

The preparation of payrolls for a variety of clients and liaising with clients on payroll matters
Providing bookkeeping services using cloud accounting software for a range of business clients. This will include:

• Accounting for daily transactions
• Month end accounting procedures
• Preparation of VAT returns
• Filing Companies House and H M Revenue & Customs documents on client’s behalf

Assignments will be undertaken both in the office and at client’s premises. You will have support and on the job training from managers and other senior staff.

During your training you will be expected to develop an understanding of the practical issues involved in delivering a high quality service to clients.

Both practical and theoretical training will be undertaken, with an aim to becoming a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Training details

You will undertake the “Assistant Accountant” Apprenticeship (an Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting), with full support from Accountancy Learning (our training provider) as part of their Flexible Apprenticeship Programme.

Desired Skills

You will need to be able communicate effectively (written and oral), be numerate and have good IT skills, however, no prior knowledge of accountancy is required. A general interest in business will be expected, as well as a willingness to learn.

Personal Qualities

You will need to have an analytical and methodical approach to your work and be able to apply both common sense and technical skills to different assignments.

Qualifications Required

• Minimum of 5 GCSE’s at level 5 or higher (Must include English and Mathematics) or equivalent.
• 2 A levels at Grade C or equivalent.
